New Believer
Dear Child of God,
I praise God that you have decided to accept Jesus Christ into your Heart!!! I just want to go through some things that the Bible says about what happens when you receive Gods free gift, Jesus Christ!!! So please just take a few minutes and read this so you can stand on what the Word of God says!!!
1 Thessalonians 5:23 "I pray to God that your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." We are a three part being, just like God...Genesis 1:26 "Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image," Who is [Us] (the Father, the Son {Jesus} and the Holy Spirit). When you are born again, saved, a new creator, all means the same, Then you have the Holy Ghost living inside of your spirit!!! Ephesians 1:13 "In whom you have trusted, after you heard the Word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that you believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise." 2Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." When you received Jesus, the changed that happened was in your spirit, not your soul (you still think the same) or your body (you still look the same) But it was in your spirit!!!
Spirit
John 3:3 "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Your spirit is what lives on forever. James 2:26 "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." 2 Corinthians 5:8 "We are confident, [I say], and willing rather to be absent from the body to be present with the Lord." When we die are spirit lives on for Eternity. Proverbs 20:27 "The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly." AND John 7:38 "He that believeth on me (Jesus), as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." This is speaking about the Holy Spirit which brings life. Your spirit is known by the world as their conscience, but once your are born again your spirit has communion with God.
Soul
Your soul is made up of 3 parts... Mind (Power to know), Will (Power to choose) and Emotions (Feelings, affections, desires) Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." You renew your mind by studying the Word. Philippians 2:5-6 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: v6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God." The Lord has given us free will (the will is the mind's power to act voluntarily, it is the executive department of the mind)...people choose to go to Heaven or go to Hell. So choose to do the will of God Ephesians 5:6 "Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the (Bond) servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart." Don't let your emotions or should I say your feelings get in the way of what the Word of God says!!! 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love, and of a sound mind." This is why you don't base your relationship on feelings, because sometimes the enemy will try to use your feelings against you!!! Matthew 16:26 "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" DON'T COMPROMISE WITH THE devil!!!
Body
Our Bodies are known as temples in the Bible. 1 Corinthians 3:16 "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?" See when you received Jesus into your heart (spirit) the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in you. 1Corinthians 6:20 "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." Romans 6:6 "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin." 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 "For thought we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: v4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) v5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"
